Moleskine notebooks

I got these Moleskine notebooks yesterday from avalon.ph.

The ruled reporter notebook is for the missus, who loves taking down notes. The squared notebook is mine.

Back before blogging was the rage, I used to keep notebooks — from heavy-paper-type pocket sketchbooks to lowly “Cattleya” brand ones — to put down stuff: lame attempts at poetry, the usual angsty story or two, among others.

Collecting diecast Mini Coopers is my hobby. I’m a bit of an O.C. so I want to make an inventory of my collection. So I resort to taking photos.

In my recent experiment, I used my aging Sony DSC60 camera, a Sony VTR100 tripod, a study lamp with a flexible neck, and a roll of corrugated paper for the background.

The results were, well, not what I expected. The lighting was saturated, the focus and depth were off. I attribute it to technique (read: the lack of it).

Oh well, I will have to try better.

In the hospital

We’ve been in the hospital for three nights now. The little one got confined because of high fever. The doctors have been doing some tests on him for a few days now, trying to find out the cause: x-ray, blood chemistry, urine and stool tests turned out negative.

Julian at the hospital

He’s been battered with antibiotics and other meds, and seeing him like this is very painful for us. At this age, he is already acquiring a phobia on hospitals — he freaks out every time a nurse or medical staff comes in the room.

We hope he gets well soon.
